V22 – Typedesign

In addition to the Winter Semester 2019/20 exhibition, the Variable Font V22 was created as a tribute to Laszlo Moholy-Nagy and his Light-Space Modulator, in celebration of the Bauhaus centenary.

The Variable Font V22 is based on Herbert Bayer's classic P22 font and embodies a flexible and modular aesthetic. A corresponding poster was designed to unfold in layers, mirroring the dynamic nature of the Light-Space Modulator, and can be experienced similarly on a smartphone.

This project merges typography and technology, paying homage to Moholy-Nagy's pioneering exploration of light and space. The Variable Font V22 captures the essence of the Bauhaus legacy while adding a contemporary twist. The accompanying poster invites viewers to engage with its interactive layers, offering a glimpse into the transformative power of design.

Through the Variable Font V22 project, the boundaries between past and present are blurred, showcasing the endless possibilities of design to inspire and provoke new perspectives.
